Macron Wins French Presidential Election

Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron has defeated Marion Anne Perrine (Marine) Le Pen in a bid to become the next President of France. Macron was the former Inspector of Finances for the Inspectorate General of Finances (IGF). He is also a former investment banker at Rothschild & Cie Banque. Macron will become the youngest president in the history of France’s 5th Republic.

Macron is a member of France’s Socialist Party but ran on a different platform called En Marche!. Marine Le Pen got into the second round as the lead for France’s National Front.

According to Le Monde, Macron has 65.5% of the vote versus Le Pen at 34.5%. Google has the vote at 63.3% versus 36.7% for Le Pen. These results are not final.
