Public Investors Likely to Allocate More to PE than Last Year
Public investors are embracing private equity in 2012. Numerous studies have shown that generally, private equity buyout funds over the past 30 years have performed better than public stocks. Sovereign wealth funds have increased allocation to private markets. Australia’s Future Fund nearly tripled its share of investment in private equity since the global financial crises. At the end of last year the Future Fund had 5.3% of assets in private equity compared to 1.8% at the end of December 2008.
