Temasek Holdings Believes in the China Story

Temasek Holdings Pte, one of Singapore’s sovereign wealth funds is a major public investor in China. The sovereign wealth fund through various investment entities has Chinese exposure in companies, funds, fixed income, private equity, and real estate. Temasek Holdings believes China is the economic anchor in Asia. The sovereign entity owns large stakes in China’s largest financial institutions. In fact in April 2012, Temasek Holdings purchased ICBC shares from Goldman Sachs. Temasek Holdings has recently increased their quota for publicly traded securities in mainland exchanges through the qualified foreign institutional investor (QFII) program. The Singapore wealth fund wants to keep their investment options open in China’s A-shares market. China regulators signaled to foreign investors that it is willing to accept their money after decades of tight capital controls.

The China Securities Regulatory Commission, the foreign exchange regulator is trying to speed up the approval process and streamline efforts.
