Federal Reserve Cuts Benchmark Interest Rates for Third Time in 2019

The U.S. Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a quarter point. The Fed lowered the target range for its key interest rate by 25 basis points to between 1.5% and 1.75%.

This is a change from the range of 1.75% to 2%.

Two Federal reserve board policymakers voted against the rate cut. They are Esther George and Eric Rosengren.
