GE Aviation to Shrink Labor Even More

Posted on 04/02/2020

Due to troubles in global air travel caused by the Wuhan coronavirus, GE Aviation, a business unit of General Electric (GE), disclosed that they plan to layoff around 50% of its aviation unit’s engine-manufacturing staff. In March, GE said it would terminate up to 10% of its aviation unit staff, impacting around 2,600 employees.

Airplane companies are deferring orders for new airplanes.

GE Aviation is headquartered in Evendale, Ohio, which is near Cincinnati. GE Aviation competes mostly against Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney (part of United Technologies Corporation).
