Former Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh Dies at 46

Las Vegas, Nevada-based online shoe and clothing retailer Zappos was founded by Tony Hsieh. Tony Hsieh, former chief executive officer and founder of Zappos died on Friday. Tony Hsieh died from injuries sustained in a house fire in New London, Connecticut. The fire occurred more than a week prior on November 18, 2020. Firefighters were called to 500 Pequot Ave. just after 3:30 a.m. on November 18, 2020. Tony Hsieh was flown via Lifestar to the CT Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital. Hsieh was visiting family at the time of the fire.

Amazon.com Inc. bought Zappos for US$ 1.2 billion in 2009.

Tony Hsieh retired this past summer after spending 20 years with Zappos, Zappos CEO Kedar Deshpande said in statement.
