CDC Director Robert Redfield has signed off on Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine. Here is his full statement: “Last night, I was proud to sign the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ recommendation to use Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine in people 16 and older. This official CDC recommendation follows Friday’s FDA decision to authorize the emergency use of Pfizer’s vaccine. As COVID-19 cases continue to surge throughout the U.S., CDC’s recommendation comes at a critical time. Initial COVID-19 vaccination is set to start as early as Monday, and this is the next step in our efforts to protect Americans, reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and help restore some normalcy to our lives and our country.”

Moncef Slaoui is the Chief Medical Advisor of Operation Warp Speed. On the show “Fox News Sunday”, he disclosed that roughly 75% to 80% of the U.S. population must get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity, or the point at which enough people are protected for the virus to be contained. According to various around 50% of the U.S. population wants to take the vaccine shot. Some concerns of people not taking the vaccine include adverse effects, possibility of cutting corners in getting approval, and a part of the population that has a general distrust for vaccines.
