1. Joe Biden’s inauguration parade is being cancelled. Biden plans to a virtual “parade across America.” In addition, U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi was narrowly re-elected speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives on Sunday. The House voted 216-209 to select Pelosi, after Democrats lost 11 seats in the November 2020 elections to run a narrower 222-212 majority.

2. A growing number of Republican policymakers are making a list-ditch effort on electoral certification over voting irregularities during the election period. U.S. Senator Ted Cruz called for an emergency 10-day audit of election results in contested battleground states.

3. The U.K. inoculates the first person in the world with the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

4. Central Bank of Egypt pushed out a 15 billion pound (US$ 952 million) plan to help car owners convert their vehicles to natural gas.

5. Boeing 737 MAX resumed commercial flights in the United States last week.

6. Ladbrokes owner Entain Plc received an US$ 11 billion bid proposal from U.S. casino operator MGM Resorts.

7. Thailand Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha urged the public to stay home to help contain the country’s largest coronavirus outbreak yet and avoid a strict lockdown. Thailand has some of the lowest recorded number of coronavirus cases in Asia.

8. Quibi could sell its content catalog to video-streaming device maker Roku Inc.
