Israel Sees Likely Link Between Pfizer COVID Vaccine and Myocarditis Cases

The Ministry of Health of Israel discovered a probable link between Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE’s coronavirus vaccine and dozens of cases of heart inflammation (myocarditis) in young men following the second dose of the gene therapy shot. The COVID vaccine has been given to more than 5 million people in Israel. The number of coronavirus cases in Israel, along with neighboring countries have fallen. According to a study by health officials in Israel, there were 275 cases of myocarditis identified between December 2020, when the Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 drive started, and May 2021, including 148 cases within a month after vaccination. Of these, 27 cases occurred after the first dose and 121 following the second dose of shots. In both cases, roughly half were in people with previous medical conditions.
Pfizer claims at this time there is still no indication that the cases are due to the vaccine.
