COVID Vaccinated U.S. Politicians Test Positive for Virus as Protection Wanes

As companies and governments in the U.S. and globally pressure people to take the COVID shots from Pfizer and Moderna, breakthrough cases have emerged as viruses mutate and create variants.
Today, U.S. Senator Angus King of Maine (age 77) tested positive for COVID-19 after not feeling well. Senator Roger Wicker (age 70) of Mississippi also tested positive for COVID after having symptoms. Both King and Wicker received the COVID vaccine shots.
“Despite all my efforts, when I began feeling mildly feverish yesterday, I took a test this morning at my doctor’s suggestion, and it came back positive,” King, 77, said in a statement. “While I am not feeling great, I’m definitely feeling much better than I would have without the vaccine.”
“Senator Wicker is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, is in good health, and is being treated by his Tupelo-based physician,” Phillip Waller, Wicker’s communications director, said in a statement. The 70-year-old Wicker “is isolating, and everyone with whom Senator Wicker has come in close contact recently has been notified.”
Senator John Hickenlooper from Colorado also tested positive for COVID and it was a breakthrough case for him.
Just a while back, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who was vaccinated against COVID, tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who was vaccinated against COVID, tested positive after feeling sick.
The Biden administration is encouraging Americans to seek booster shots from Pfizer starting in September.
