1. INFRASTRUCTURE BILL HEADS TO BIDEN’S DESK. The U.S. House passed a US$ 555 billion infrastructure bill late Friday night in a vote of 228 (yes) to 206 (no). The bill heads to U.S. Joe Biden for signing. Six Democrats voted against the measure and 13 Republicans voted in favor. The U.S. Senate approved the infrastructure bill in August 2021. 19 Republicans in the Senate joined the Democrats in passing the bill. Democrat House members fought to link the infrastructure package and the much larger social policy measure, also known as the Build Back Better bill together. That did not work.

2. COVID PILLS. The use case of COVID shots could be decreasing as Pfizer is now getting into the game of COVID pills to treat infection. The White House says it is preparing to secure both Merck and Pfizer-made COVID-19 pills.

3. Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. increased its profits by seeing more activity in its railroad, utilities, and energy businesses from the COVID pandemic. Berkshire Hathaway reported operating income of US$ 6.47 billion in the third quarter 2021, rising 18% from US$ 5.48 billion in the same quarter a year ago.
