Bank of Uganda Raises Main Lending Rate to 9%

On August 12, 2022, Bank of Uganda raised the main lending rate by another 50 basis points to 9%. The Bank of Uganda raised the main lending rate by 250 basis points this year to try to tame inflation. Annual headline inflation in Uganda hit 7.9% in July 2022 from 6.8% in June 2022.
