The Second Swedish National Pension Fund, also known as Andra AP-fonden (AP2), is one of five buffer funds within the Swedish pension system. AP2’s goal is to maximize long-term return at low risk. In conjunction with the other buffer funds, Andra AP-fonden is tasked with maintaining reasonably consistent pension levels, even during periods affected by peaks in the number of retirees, or by an economic downturn.

Andra AP-fonden has adopted a long-term approach to investing. AP2 uses scientifically-based strategic management model includes long-term forecasts covering demographic, socioeconomic and capital-market developments.
