CDPQ Invests in U.S. Optometry Chain

On August 17th, Toronto-based Atlas Partners and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) announced they invested in Vienna-based Capital Vision Services, LP, a company that provides management services to MyEyeDr. optometry practices. The deal includes Capital Vision Services’ co-founder and CEO Sue Downes and other members of management to participate in a level of ownership. Other joining investors include Andell Inc., a family office and private investment firm that derives its wealth from the family’s controlling position of The Seagram Co. Ltd.

The transaction value is approximately US$ 800 million.

Capital Vision Services was founded in 2001 by Sue Downes and Robert Samit. The company manages approximately 165 optometry practice locations in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington D.C.
