ESG Incorporation into Bonds, GPIF and World Bank Analyze

Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) and the World Bank Group have announced plans to develop a joint research program to help foster practical methods for integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations into investment decisions for fixed-income portfolios, with the ultimate goal being to direct more capital towards sustainable investments.

As part of its research, the study will assess benchmarks, guidelines, rating methodologies, disclosure frameworks, reporting templates, and risk correlation for incorporating sustainability considerations across asset classes, in order to better understand their effect on investment performance.
