Japan’s GPIF Touches 123.9 Trillion Yen

Japan’s Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) returned 2.7% for the fund’s second fiscal quarter (July-September). Fund assets reached 123.9 trillion yen (US$ 1.2124 trillion). The previous quarter return was 1.85% – marking a positive streak of quarterly performance.

In June, the GPIF modified their portfolio allocation and grew exposure in international and domestic equities.

A strong second quarter for the GPIF – investment gains occurred in all four asset classes. Japanese stocks gained 6.07% for the quarter, influenced by Japan’s expansionary monetary and aggressive fiscal policies.
