Khazanah Opens up San Francisco Office

khazanah nasionalKhazanah Nasional, Malaysia’s strategic development sovereign wealth fund, has opened up an office in San Francisco on California Street. This is the third regional office for Khazanah, first in the United States. Officials at Khazanah perceive San Francisco as an epicenter of innovation and technology.

Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, officiated the opening of the San Francisco office.

According to their press release, Khazanah managing director, Tan Sri Dato’ Azman Hj Mokhtar said: “As home to both established technology firms and start-up ventures, leading universities and media-related companies, San Francisco and its surrounding environs have established a vibrant ecosystem for supporting entrepreneurs and innovation. The establishment of KAI will help build a pipeline of talent and collaboration between Malaysia and the US and help accelerate Malaysia’s very own innovation and technology capabilities.”

On another note, Khazanah recently appointed of Dato’ Charon Wardini bin Mokhzani as executive director of the managing director’s office starting November 6, 2013. He was deputy chief executive at CIMB Group.
