OMERS Ventures Invests $20 Million in HootSuite

Launched in 2011, OMERS Ventures is up and running and made a $20 million investment in HootSuite. It is a secondary purchase from the company’s existing shareholders. It is one of the largest Canadian secondary venture capital deals in the past ten years. Early investors in HootSuite include Hearst Interactive Media, Blumberg Capital, Millennium Technology Ventures, and super angel investor Geoff Entress.

OMERS Ventures invests venture capital assets on behalf of OMERS pension fund.

CalPERS Allocates $1 Billion Internally to a Global ESG Strategy

In February 2018, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) allocated US$ 1 billion to an internally-managed QSI Global ESG strategy. The internally-managed strategy was developed by New York-based QS Investors, LLC, a subsidiary of Legg Mason. CalPERS entered into a 5-year contract with QS Investors, with a possible spend of over US$ 1 million per annum.
