GIC Could be Cornerstone Investor in Techcombank

Singapore’s GIC Private Limited could be a cornerstone investor in Techcombank’s Vietnam initial public offering (IPO). GIC’s amount could be around US$ 100 million or more. The Hanoi-based bank, also known as Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint-stock Bank, reached a deal with Warburg Pincus for a US$ 370 million commitment in March 2018. Vietnamese fund manager Dragon Capital is also a likely participant in the deal.

Ivanhoé Cambridge Poaches LaSalle RE French Executive

Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec (CDPQ) is expanding its expertise in real estate. Ivanhoé Cambridge, the real estate unit of CDPQ, hired Karim Habra, LaSalle Investment Management’s head of continental Europe. In this newly-formed role, Habra will start July 2018 and be based in Paris. Habra will be Head of Continental Europe for Ivanhoé Cambridge.

Biocytogen Raises Series C Round

Beijing-based Biocytogen, a contract research organization focusing on gene-targeted animal models, raised roughly US$ 65 million in a Series C round. Leading the round was an affiliate of China Merchant Bank. Other investors in the round include Cowin Capital, Oriza Holdings, 3E Bioventures and SDIC Venture Capital Management, a subsidiary of State Development & Investment Corporation (SDIC).
