The Silverfern Group Invests in Broad River Energy Center Located in South Carolina

On December 20, 2016, The Silverfern Group, finalized its acquisition of Broad River Power Holdings, an 878 MW dual-fuel, simple-cycle gas turbine electric power plant strategically located 40 miles from Charlotte, North Carolina, in partnership with Texas-based Arroyo Energy Investment Partners LLC. The seller was Energy Capital Partners. Broad River Energy Center is a 5×0 Simple Cycle Generating Facility producing electricity under a long term tolling agreement located in Gaffney, South Carolina. Broad River utilizes 5 GE 7FA.03 gas turbine generators for the generation of electrical power. The units can be on the grid and supplying power within 15 minutes to help serve peak and emergency loads.

Neil McGregor to Exit Temasek in March 2017 to Become CEO of Sembcorp

Neil McGregor, Head of Energy & Resources and Senior Managing Director at Temasek Holdings, is exiting the wealth fund to become Group President and CEO of Singapore-based Sembcorp Industries Ltd, effective April 1, 2017. Before working at Temasek Holdings in June 2014, McGregor was CEO of Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd.

The Ascott Limited, a unit of CapitaLand, expanded its footprint to Ireland by purchasing an operating hotel in Dublin, the 136-unit Temple Bar Hotel for €55.1 million.

Mumtalakat Discloses Investment in Khairat Bahrain

Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company disclosed an investment in Sudan called Khairat Bahrain. This is an agricultural investment in Sudan. The food and agriculture sector is key investment sector for many Gulf-based state investors. Khairat Bahrain is located in the world’s richest expanse of groundwater (the Nubian Sandstone Basin) occupying an area of approximately 100,000 feddans (400 square kilometers). The Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System is the world’s largest known fossil water aquifer system.

Temasek Acquires Cybersecurity Firm Sygnia

Singapore’s Temasek Holdings agreed to acquire Sygnia, Inc., an Israeli cybersecurity technology and services provider. Unverified estimates of the deal amount are around US$ 250 million. Sygnia runs out of Tel Aviv, but has an office in New York. Sygnia assists companies respond to cyber threats.
