Temasek Invests in Latest Equity Round in Funding Circle

London-based Funding Circle, which recently landed an additional lending mandate with the British Business Bank, has raised £82 million in equity capital. Leading this latest equity round is Accel. Other existing investors also contributed capital including Baillie Gifford and Temasek Holdings.

Aabar Looks to Maintain its Ownership Stake in UniCredit Pending Capital Raise

Abu Dhabi-based Aabar Investments, a sovereign wealth enterprise (SWE) of the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), looks to participate in a massive €13 billion share issue of UniCredit SpA to maintain its 5% ownership stake. Aabar would need to kick in roughly €650 million to maintain its ownership profile. UniCredit needs the capital raise to cover loan losses, while strengthening its balance sheet.

CPPIB CFO to Retire in June 2017

The Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) announced its chief financial officer Benita Warmbold plans to retire in June 2017. CPPIB is looking to name a successor before she exits. Warmbold joined CPPIB in 2008, originally as chief operations officer and then became chief financial officer.

Angolan Government Cancels Port Concession, Reviews Others

Egyptian Parliament Passes Draft Law on Misr Fund

Egypt’s state news agency revealed the country is forming a sovereign wealth fund with initial capital of 5 billion Egyptian pounds, with 1 billion Egyptian pounds of that amount being immediately transferred from the Egyptian public treasury.
