CIT Looks to Sell Aviation Assets

Lending giant CIT Group Inc. is seeking to sell some aircraft leasing assets. Some bidding entities include Industrial and Commercial Bank of China’s ICBC Leasing, Japan’s Orix Corporation and China’s HNA Group. Other possible parties to bid are China Investment Corporation (CIC), China Development Bank Leasing (CDB Leasing) and Century Tokyo Leasing Corporation. CIT’s commercial air unit, which owns and manages a fleet of more than 350 plans, could sell for around US$ 3 billion to US$ 4 billion.

Facebook and Microsoft to Lay Mega Subsea Cable in the Atlantic

Microsoft Corporation and Facebook are partnering to build a transatlantic cable called Marea from Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S, to a data hub in Bilbao, Spain. Marea translates into English as the word “tide”. The subsea cable aims to be online by 2017. The cable will have 140 terabytes per second of capacity.
