The country of Mauritius is planning on creating a sovereign wealth fund. The island nation has a strong financial services sector and growing exports. In November 2010, the Government of Mauritius announced it was setting up a sovereign wealth fund to seek higher returns on national wealth. The fund would initially be US$ 3 billion in size. The sovereign wealth fund’s main sponsors will be the National Pension Fund (NPF) and the Bank of Mauritius.
