Summary
The Nauru Phosphate Royalties Trust (NPRT) invested money from the Nauru Phosphate Corporation.

Back in the early 1900s, phosphate mining began in Nauru and by 1975 more than 1.5 million tons were being exported. The newly independent government of Nauru acquired phosphate mining rights from Australia for A$ 21 million in 1970.

By 2001, phosphate exports plummeted.
