WH Press Sec Psaki Says US Treasury to Impose Full Blocking Sanctions on Russian Direct Investment Fund

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tweeted on February 25, 2022, “The Secretary of Treasury will also be imposing full blocking sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund–a state owned financial entity that functions as a sovereign wealth fund, which is supposed to attract capital into the Russian economy in high-growth sectors.”
The large ethnic Russian population in Ukraine serves as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s partial pretext for seeking to unite Ukrainians and Russians. Russia recently invaded the Ukraine, which has prompted reactions from the U.S. and European Union. At the moment, Russian forces are battling Ukrainian solders and militia in Kyiv and other cities.
