BlackRock Hires Robeco’s Chief Risk Officer
BlackRock has hired Robeco’s chief risk officer to be its head of institutional client business for the Benelux region. Monique Donders will join BlackRock. Donders is also a former professor of financial management at the University of Maastricht.
IPIC to Make Interest Payments on 1MDB Units
Abu Dhabi’s International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) will make interest payments that are due in October and November on two bonds worth US$ 1.75 billion each that are issued by units of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). These units are 1MDB Energy and 1MDB Energy (Langat). IPIC will pay US$ 102.7 million in interest payments due this month.
Lots of Smart Beta in the U.S.
Data provider Morningstar estimates around US$ 450 billion is invested in smart beta exchange-traded funds (ETF). Morningstar’s report on smart beta sees that advisers appear to be treating smart beta ETFs as active funds.
Glencore Shares Halted in Hong Kong Over Upcoming Announcement
Share of Glencore Plc halted trading in Hong Kong on October 11th, due to an announcement on proposed assets sales in Chile and Australia. The Swiss mining giant plans to cut around US$ 10 billion in debt.
