In a Kuala Lumpur High Court, Malaysia’s former Prime Minister Najib Razak was found guilty in his first corruption trial that revolves around the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal. Razak was found guilty of criminal breach of trust, abuse of power, and money laundering in a stunning verdict that dismantles a key defense in first of five graft trials. Razak was found guilty of all seven charges. Razak had pleaded not guilty to the charges of criminal breach of trust, money laundering, and abuse of power. Najib says he was misled by financial advisers, in particular, Jho Low.

Razak is expected to remain out of prison until all appeals are used up. Judge Mohamad Nazlan Mohamad Ghazali presided over the case.
