Ida Wolden Bache will accept an appointment as Governor of Norges Bank for a term of six years. Ida Wolden Bache has occupied the post of Governor of Norges Bank since Øystein Olsen stepped down on February 28, 2022.

Norway’s Minister of Finance announced on March 24, 2022 that he will present a recommendation to the King in the Council of State to appoint Ida Wolden Bache as Governor of Norges Bank for a term of six years.

“I have today notified the Ministry of Finance that I will accept to continue in my post as Governor of Norges Bank”, says Governor Ida Wolden Bache.

Ida Wolden Bache applied for the post when it was advertised last autumn 2021.

“I applied because I am strongly committed to Norges Bank, its highly competent staff and its mission. My commitment is just as strong today”, she says.

Jens Stoltenberg was appointed Governor of Norges Bank on February 4, 2022. On March 24, 2022, NATO announced that Mr Stoltenberg’s term as Secretary General would be extended owing to the ongoing war in Ukraine. For that reason, Mr Stoltenberg has relinquished his post as Governor of Norges Bank.

“Norges Bank has great respect for Mr Stoltenberg’s decision made in the light of his very important responsibilities as Secretary General of NATO.”
