President and CEO of The Philippines’ sovereign wealth fund Rafael Consing says the Maharlika Investment Fund will need more seed money to accomplish its infrastructure investment goals, and the way to get it is to secure more assets. Consing said the government could “Identify which other assets that they can contribute to the fund.” Consing cited Malaysia as an example: “In Malaysia they put in both cash and assets.”

The government has already identified 80 infrastructure projects that could potentially be financed through Maharlika. Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Maharlika’s investments would be both socially and economically important and profitable for the fund. He affirmed that the fund would be up and running by the end of the year.
