TREND: Blackstone Gets Into Impact Investing

The Blackstone Group disclosed the launch of a new impact investing platform that will be part of the firm’s Strategic Partners group. According to the press release, “The platform will seek to deliver positive financial impact while addressing four specific investment themes— Health & Wellbeing, Financial Access, Sustainable Communities, and Green Technologies.”

The Blackstone Group hired Tanya Barnes, former Managing Director in Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division, to lead the new impact investing division. Blackstone is trying to fulfill the growing demands of endowments, family offices, and public pensions who clamor for mission-oriented investments.
