Large Chinese Banks Halt Mortgage Lending in Shenzhen Over 2019 Quota Depletion

Caixin news reports that the Shenzhen branches of the Bank of China and China Construction Bank have halted new mortgage loans in Shenzhen. The city of Shenzhen borders Hong Kong. The banks have allegedly depleted their year-end 2019 quotas. These banks must wait till January 1, 2020 to use the 2020 mortgage quotas.
