Cubico Sustainable Investments Buys Southern Wind Farm in Uruguay

Cubico Sustainable Investments is a U.K.–based renewable energy infrastructure company owned by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and PSP Investments. Cubico Sustainable Investments bought the Astidey wind farm (also called Talas del Maciel I), a 50-megawatt wind farm near Trinidad, which is in southern Uruguay. The wind farm became operational in 2015 and cost US$ 120 million.

The seller is Astidey SA, which is owned by Grupo Morsa de Mexico SA de CV and Montevideo-based Construcciones e Instalaciones Electromecánicas SA (Ciemsa). In 2014, Astidey SA scored a US$ 64.5 million loan from the U.S. Export-Import Bank to acquire U.S.-manufactured wind turbines from Spanish Gamesa SA.
