MetLife Holds onto Annuity Provider Contract with Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board

Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) was rehired by the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board to be a Thrift Savings Plan’s annuity provider. MetLife has held this role since 1988.

The annuity contract is for a 3-year base period and two, one-year options. Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board issued an RFP in September 2019 as MetLife’s current contract was set to expire on March 1, 2020.
