Posted on 02/03/2020

Bpifrance plans to form a €10 billion fund vehicle to protect French companies from activist investors. The fund’s proposed name is Silverlake and will aim to make approximately 15 investments across a decade. The fund, which is open to third-party capital, has attracted limited partners such as sovereign wealth funds, large companies, French insurance companies, and wealthy families (family offices).

The first close is targeting several billion euro. Bpifrance already has a €15 billion portfolio of state investment holdings in assets such as auto manufacturer PSA Group (formerly PSA Peugeot Citroën).
