10-Year Treasury Yield Falls Below 0.5 Percent, while 30-Year Rate Breaks 1%

The benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield fell below 0.5% for the first time ever. Overnight trading on March 8, 2020 pushed the 10-year Treasury yield to a record low of 0.487%. The 30-year U.S. Treasury yield also touched an all-time low of 0.974%, smashing through the 1% threshold for the first time in history. Investors are running toward safe U.S. government bonds.
