President Trump Declares National Emergency on Coronavirus

U.S. President Donald Trump held a news conference on the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which is spreading across the United States. Trump declared a national emergency over the viral outbreak which has caused severe disruptions to the U.S. economy and American life.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued emergency authorization for a coronavirus screen test made by Switzerland-based Roche Holding AG. Roche claims the screen test can provide results in 3.5 hours and can produce up to 4,128 results in 24 hours. Roche Holding Ltd is a major holding for Norway Government Pension Fund Global.
Canada
In Canada, members of parliament voted to suspend the activity of the country’s parliament due to fears of the Wuhan coronavirus. This is one day after Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his self-isolation. Justin’s wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, tested positive for the coronavirus following a trip to the United Kingdom. In addition, Air Canada suspended all flights to Italy.
On October 24, 2009, the U.S. President Barack Obama declared Swine Flu (originally called Mexican Swine Flu) a national emergency in the United States. On November 12, 2009, the CDC reported an estimated 25,584,595 Americans had been infected with 2009 A H1N1.
