25-Year and 50-Year Treasury Bonds are on the Table

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is coming back to the idea of issuing ultra long bonds to finance a massive US$ 1.3 trillion fiscal stimulus plan to battle the impact of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). The U.S. Department of Treasury could bring back the idea of introducing the 25-year bond and the 50-year bond, both ideas that were struck down when the U.S. economy was bullish. With ultra-low interest rates, these bonds could find increased investor demand.
