Swedish institutional investor Alecta pensionsförsäkring, ömsesidigt (Alecta) is prepping itself to possibly spin off some Swedish properties. Alecta formed a separate entity called Alecta Fastigheter AB (Alecta Real Estate) for its domestic property portfolio. Alecta will also hire some in-house property management professionals to manage some of its assets. Alecta Fastigheter will be headed up by Lena Boberg, who is currently chief executive officer of Swedish property firm ICA Real Estate (part of ICA Gruppen).

Alecta Fastigheter will start overseeing 45 billion SEK of the investor’s directly-held Swedish properties and Swedish joint ventures.

Hans Sterte, Head of Asset Management and Deputy CEO at Alecta, said in a press release, “By incorporating Alecta Fastigheter AB, we are creating a larger platform for Alecta’s real estate transactions, so we can increase the scalability and at the same time continue to manage our clients’ pension money for as low a fee as possible.”
