President Trump to use Defense Production Act on U.S. Swab Production for Coronavirus Testing

Facing a biological war, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that he plans to use the U.S. Defense Production Act to expand the country’s swab production by at least 20 million per month for Wuhan coronavirus tests. The swabs are used to collect specimens from a person’s throat or nose for the viral tests. “We are calling in the Defense Production Act,” President Trump said to the press. He added, “You’ll have so many swabs you won’t know what to do with them.”

President Trump already used the act on companies such as General Electric and General Motors to manufacture additional ventilators.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence disclosed more than 150,000 tests are being conducted per day in the U.S. and that number could double if laboratories across the country are activated.
