Mall of America Skipped Mortgage Payments for Two Months

The Mall of America, located in Bloomington, Minnesota, is the largest shopping mall in the United States. The mall is operated by Edmonton, Alberta-based Triple Five Group. The mall skipped mortgage payments in April 2020 and May 2020. Wells Fargo is the master servicer on the mortgage. The Mall of America closed its doors because of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on March 17, 2020.

Triple Five Group also operates the West Edmonton Mall in Alberta and owns the American Dream, which opened at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey on October 25, 2019. Triple Five Group is owned by the Ghermezian family, which was originally founded by then Jacob Ghermezian.
