Founded in 1999 by Seth Merrin, Liquidnet Holdings Inc. is an operator of private trading venues. Liquidnet is working with a financial advisor and is exploring a sale that could value the company at US$ 1 billion. Liquidnet operates dark pools, which are also known as private exchanges for trading securities that are not available to the general public.
