Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board Nabs Barclays Private Bank CEO for Head Equities Role

Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (OTPP) made a big move and hired Karen Frank, the CEO of Barclays Private Bank. Karen Frank became CEO of Barclays Private Bank, a unit of Barclays Plc, in October 2016. Karen Frank will be based in London and become Senior Managing Director of Public and Private Equities of OTPP. Karen Frank will succeed Jane Rowe, who will become Vice Chair of Investments for OTPP.

Karen Frank is leaving Barclays to join Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board as senior managing director of public and private equities, based in London. She succeeds Jane Rowe (current head of equities), who will become vice chair of investments from October 1, 2020.

Karen Frank has worked at Goldman Sachs, AEA Investors, and Compass Partners International.

Karen Frank will oversee the private capital and high-conviction equities team of the major pension giant.
