Tesla CEO Elon Musk is Now Wealthier than Warren Buffett

Elon Musk, aged 49, is the CEO of Tesla, Inc. Tesla shares zoomed in recent months and Elon Musk controls roughly 20.8% of the electric automaker’s stock. With Tesla’s stock price at US$ 1,544.65 on July 10, 2020, it makes Musk the seventh richest person on Earth with a US$ 70.5 billion net worth. Musk’s executive pay plan is subject to controversy.

Musk is also the largest shareholder in SpaceX.

Warren Buffett, aged 89, known as the Oracle of Omaha and head of Berkshire Hathaway, recently donated US$ 2.7 billion of his Berkshire Hathaway stock to charity. Buffett has invested in coal, transportation, insurance, and oil and gas businesses, as well as soft drink companies like Coca-Cola. Buffett has gifted more than US$ 37 billion worth of shares in Berkshire Hathaway, according to various media sources.

Hiromichi (Hiro) Mizuno, the former Chief Investment Officer of Japan Government Pension Investment Fund and a board member of Tesla tweeted, “Who, Elon or Warren, has more money doesn’t really matter. But how they made it and what they would use it for really matters. Making money with sweat and use it for future.”

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) sold out of Tesla in late 2019.
