CNBC: Top U.S. HHS Official Says Most of Coronavirus Transmission is from Asymptomatic People

Posted on 07/17/2020

In a CNBC “Squawk Box” interview with U.S. Admiral Brett Giroir, who is the Assistant Secretary for Health at HHS, on July 17, 2020, “Just feeling like you want to go get a test is really not the best strategy, but we know that most of the spread are from asymptomatic people, particularly young adults, so you have to cast a wide net and I think we’re able to do that.”

The laymen definition of an asymptomatic person is someone who is infected with the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) who doesn’t show symptoms and never develops them. This also includes people in the pre-symptomatic stage.
