Kuwait Ruler Has Successful Surgery

KUNA, the country’s state news service, disclosed that the 91-year-old emir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber al-Sabah, was admitted to hospital on July 18, 2020 for medical checks and underwent surgery the following day. Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmed al-Sabah stepped in to temporarily exercise some of the ruler’s constitutional duties.

On another note, if the Kuwait parliament plans to approve a controversial debt law, the country could issue between 4 billion and 5 billion Kuwaiti dinars in public debt before the end of March 2021.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, aged 84, was recently admitted to hospital in Riyadh, suffering from inflammation of the gall bladder, state news agency SPA.
