Nuveen Real Estate, through its €2 billion open-ended European Cities vehicle, made a €100 million commitment to buy Campus, a 390-unit building that is under construction. The student housing development is located in Copenhagen. The Campus development in Copenhagen will be the 15th acquisition for the Nuveen Real Estate fund. Nuveen Real Estate sees high demand for education in the Nordic countries. Bach Gruppen is developing Campus. Bach Gruppen is one of Denmark’s largest privately owned real estate developers.

In February 2017, the European Cities platform bought a 50% stake in Kamppi Shopping Centre in Helsinki, Finland, forming a 50:50 ownership structure with Allianz SE.

The “European Cities” mandate targets income-producing properties in “future-proof” cities across Europe.
