Former Stanford Endowment CIO John Powers Passed Away in July

John Francis Powers died at the age of 67 on July 13, 2020. Powers was the former President and CEO for Stanford Management Company, the entity that manages the endowment for Stanford University.
Powers managed the endowment from June 2006 to 2015 – through the rough waters of the global financial crisis of 2008. Powers was also an instructor at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Before his endowment role, Powers was Director of Research at Offit Hall Capital Management. Powers holds an MBA from Stanford University, and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
