California’s Fair Political Practices Commission to Investigate CalPERS CIO over Complaints

California’s Fair Political Practices Commission is investigating complaints regarding Yu Ben Meng, the former Chief Investment Officer of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).Yu Ben Meng was in hot water over his personal investments and his disclosures of them. The Fair Political Practices Commission said it would investigate all allegations. Meng stepped down on August 5, 2020 from his CIO post.
In the previous week, California State Controller Betty Yee had requested the CalPERS board to form an inquiry into the abrupt exit of its chief investment officer.
