According to transaction data from the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute (SWFI), sovereign wealth funds and public pensions bought large direct equity shares into Amazon.com, Inc., before the COVID-19 pandemic. SWFI tracks the investment activities of large public funds such as large public pension plans and sovereign funds. In this analysis, SWFI screened out index-like transactions and selected sizable purchases. Amazon stock also remains a favorite holding for many hedge funds in 2020.
