Sterling Partners sign an agreement with Steve Cohen to acquire the New York Mets from the Wilpon and Katz families. The deal is pending MLB approval. If and when he is approved, Cohen will own 95% of the Mets. This is up from his preexisting 8% stake. The Wilpon and Katz families will retain the other 5% of the franchise.

The deal values the Mets at approximately US$ 2.475 billion.

Cohen founded SAC Capital (defunct) and now runs Point72 Asset Management.
